December Update

Not much to report, all going well. I am at the 18 month mark since the operations.

Weight is currently between 65 & 66kgs, feeling great. Still think it was the best thing to do.

Have run into several friends lately that had not seen me for a few years and they were gobsmaked to see this smaller me.

One asked if I had been sick to have lost so much weight. I have only been asked this twice in the last 18 months.

Most people ask how I have done it. I am happy to explain and tell them about the gastric bypass.

August Update

I haven't blogged for a while as there was nothing much to report. Weight is stable at 66kgs.

I recently had to have a laproscopic investigation as I had a severe bout of reflux with sever pain, this was the first episode since the operation. Doctor wanted to investigate to make sure that nothing was wrong. Apparently the intestines can loop around each other and cause pain and reflux.

They didn't find anything wrong, which is good. The reflux might have been caused by something I ate before going to bed ( I did have a couple of chocolate covered peanuts just prior to going to bed). As I haven't had another episode since, they think this might have been the cause.

I have been to a plastic surgeon re having a tummy tuck. Was actually booked in for the 30th August but have had to postpone that until I heal from the laproscope. I am having second thoughts about having it, as I am experiencing a lot of discomfort from this operation. Tummy tuck will be 10 time more painful, not sure I want to go there.

June Update

Now 67.2kgs, slow loss over the last couple of weeks. Doctor doesn't think I will loose much more. I am happy to stay at this weight.

I have been told by a couple of friends that I am a little too thin, I just say thank you. It is marvelous to be told that for the first time in your life.

My mother told me my legs were too skinny, this was funny as she has badged me all my life about being over weight, now I am too skinny.

Off too New Zealand next week for a conference. Looking forward to fitting into airline seat comfortably.

I do feel the cold a lot now, never did before when I had all that fat as insulation.

A little more lost.

I have dropped another 1kg, now down to 67.6kgs.

Visited my surgeon last week, all is good. My nutrition levels are excellent as is my iron count. I do still have to make sure that I eat good quality foods and that protein is the main ingredient of my meals.

Got a referral to a Cosmetic Surgeon to see about having a tummy tuck and boob job. Cost maybe the only factor that might interfere with this happening.

Went to do some painting the other day only to discover that I no longer have any old cloths, all that I had were too big so I gave them away. I had to go purchase some disposable overalls (yes there is such a thing).

Stable Weight

Not much to blog about, my weight is stable at 68kgs. I mostly fit into a size 12 in clothing and I am now a lot more comfortable with my new size. The mental adjustment to this hugh weight loss has been harder than I would have thought it would be.

I love being described as "little" and "skinny".

I have an appointment with my surgeon in early May, at which I am going to ask for a referral to a plastic surgeon to have a tummy tuck and a boob lift. Don't need a size increase just need them uplifted from around my navel to the normal position for boobs.

My grand daughter saw an old picture of me the other day and asked who it was, I told her it was Nanny when she was fat, she is nearly 3, she looked at me funny and then back at the picture, I some how don't think she believed it was me.

Steady as She goes

Not much to report, my weight is steady at around 69kgs.

Went to my nephews wedding last weekend, got a lot of lovely complements from relatives that I hadn't seen for a while.

I have another nephew getting married on April 9th. Looking for a new dress to wear to that one. Tried on a beautiful purple dress yesterday, it was a size 10! Boy did that boost my ego. Haven't bought it yet, taking my daughter-in-law on Saturday to see if she thinks it looks OK.

Livin in the 60's

This morning I weighed 69.7kgs. I have been living in the 70's for the last couple of months, thought the weight loss has nearly stopped, so was pleasantly surprised this morning. Would like to get down to 65kgs if possible.

Not only does weight loss effect your clothing size but there are a lot of other side issue as well. I need to get my rings re sized, my necklaces now hang down too low so will need to buy new ones, my shoe size is less, I will need a new watch soon as the current one cannot be adjusted any smaller.

I also realised the other day that I can cross my legs and be really comfortable. This is something I couldn't really do when I was larger.

Nearly out of the 70's

70.4kgs - feeling great.

Visited my surgeon on Wednesday, my vitamin B12 and calcium levels are a little low, so will need to start having a B12 injection once every three months and taking calcium table daily. Iron levels etc are really good.

I was again, last Wednesday night, the Bypass Success guest speaker at the surgeons weight loss seminar, at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital. There was also a Lapband Success rep as well. 12 people attended that are interested in either the lap band or the bypass. All seemed really committed to going ahead with surgery. No one asked about the cost which is unusual as there apparently is always a couple of people that are only interested in the cost. I know that I asked as an after thought, about the cost when I attend the seminar prior to my surgery.

Weight today 71.3kgs. Would like to loose another couple of kilo's, then I would be a neat size 12, but if it doesn't I am happy to stay were I am now.

If and when I have a tummy tuck, I guess they would remove a couple of kilo's of skin.

Slowing Down

Weight today is 72.1kgs. I have now been in the 72's for a couple of weeks, not sure if the weight loss is slowing naturally or if it is because I have been hitting the gym every day for the last two weeks. The trainer said that I am building lean body mass - muscle.

I have an appointment with my surgeon on Wednesday.

Now wearing size 12 to 14 in clothes.

Over the next couple of months I have two weddings, an engagement party and a retirement party to attend. I have hit the shops looking for clothes. Bought my first little black dress, size 14, a pair of purple 3" stilettos and a purple jacket to wear to the first weddings in March.

For the retirement function this Thursday, I found a beautiful green and bone top to wear with a pair of black crepe pants and black stilettos (I still have to buy these).

The money I save on food, I use to buy clothes. It is so nice to be able to buy from a "normal" shops.

55 and Livin' in the low 70's

Just had my 55th Birthday. Friends said it wouldn't be long till my weight and my age are the same. Hopefully only my age will increase from here on.

Weight today is 72.6kgs.

It is really funny how the weight can stagnate for a couple of weeks then all of a sudden is drops again. Just before my trip to Bali I was 80kgs, (and it seemed like it took forever to get down out of the 80's) so I have lost 7.4kgs in two months.

Not sure were it will stop. Originally my dietitian said my goal weight would be between 65 & 69kgs, but given that it is still dropping at a steady rate and that I still feel that could comfortably get down to about 60kgs. I am only 5'2" tall (or short)

Latest Food Fad - Satay Chicken and brown rice. I buy it from my local Chinese Take Away and the have it over the next couple of days, either for lunch or dinner. One $14 meal lasts for at least 3 meals, now that is economical.

73's

I'm now down to 73.6kgs. Wow what a journey this has been.
Since the New Year began, I have been able to catch up with some friends that I had not seen in the last 12 months. All were really surprised at my weight loss. All were really pleased for the new me. One even saying that I looked 20 years younger. I did tell her that she needed to get her eyes checked as I only feel 10 years younger.

I am starting a savings fund for the tummy tuck and boob job that I will need in the next 18 month. The loose skin is not as much as I thought it would be, the boobs are the worst, thank God for bra's.

2010 - Back to Work

Well with Christmas over and back to work, I am feeling really good as my weight loss is continuing at a slow but steady pace. Now down to 74.1kgs.

Over the Christmas period I ate a few things that have been off the menu ie chocolate covered almonds, Christmas cake. I must say that I did eat in moderation as I was paranoid that I would either put weight on or get a dose of 'Dumping'.

I have been looking after my grandson for the last couple of days, he is 6 and full of energy. We went fishing and flying kites, when the rain let up. No need to go to the gym when I have him around to keep me on my toes.

It is so good to be able to keep up with him now.

For Christmas I was given mainly gift vouchers (my request) so that I could replenish my wardrobe. My sister and I hit the sales at Erina, after Boxing Day. Bought some really nice Sportscraft capri length (nearly long on me) pants in size 14. And as all the Bond's big girl undies, that I used to wear, are now like sailing boat sails on me now, I was able to replace them with lovely lacy size 14's.

My next purchase will be some good clothes as I have a couple of weddings coming up, one in March the other in April.

Also went to a clairvoyant, Jackie, she is one of the most accurate that I have been too (mind you I have only been now to 3). Amongst other things she said she could see me travelling to Canada & Alaska, also China and Bali again. I did ask were the money was coming from and she said "they will provide", so I raced out and bought a Lotto ticket in the big $30 million draw, but I guess the travel isn't happening yet as I didn't win a thing.
